Data analysis and showback is the ability to leverage data, along with metadata on cloud resources and resource hierarchies, to create a near “real time” reporting mechanism for stakeholders
Data analysis and showback are integral to the FinOps framework as this provides the means for product teams to be “informed” of things like cost insights, opportunities to optimize top spend stats for things like: services, accounts, business entities. Important aspects to cost management such as forecasting, cost allocation, and setting KPIs are just not possible without placing a high priority on data analysis and showback.
