2.2.2 Managing Shared Cost

This is clearly one of the most important, impactful and central capabilities of any FinOps practice, and one that requires a lot of domain knowledge to do well with the volume and pace of data in cloud, and the consistency required by the end results

Our work in this Capability can be broken down into these four categories:

• Managing how our resources are divided into groupings
• Managing the tags and labels we put onto the resources and the groupings
• The rules we create about how we will use those groupings and metadata to divide up our costs
• And the continuous work we will do to revise and refine these models
