The Introduction to FinOps course provides a basic understanding of activities that are central to FinOps, as well as the mission of the FinOps Foundation. We invite you to explore FinOps through the lens of one of the following Personas who interact with FinOps Practitioners: Leadership, Finance, Procurement, Product, or Engineering. Select the persona that resonates with you most, and embark on a tailored journey.

About This Course

The Introduction to FinOps course provides a basic understanding of activities that are central to FinOps, as well as the mission of the FinOps Foundation. We invite you to explore FinOps through the lens of one of the following Personas who interact with FinOps Practitioners: Leadership, Finance, Procurement, Product, or Engineering. Select the persona that resonates with you most, and embark on a tailored journey. 

Level: Beginner

Approximate time to complete: 1.5 hours

  • Understand the motivations and concerns of FinOps Core Personas

Who This Course is For
This course is intended for people who are brand new to the concept of FinOps. A wide variety of roles will benefit from a basic understanding of the practice, including: 
  • Students interested in a FinOps career
  • Individuals who are considering a career switch to a FinOps role
  • FinOps Core Personas who work with FinOps Practitioners (We recommend Engineers take the FinOps Certified Engineer course)
  • Allied Persona from Intersecting Disciplines such as ITAM, ITFM, Sustainability, and Security who work with FinOps Practitioners
  • Cloud Service Providers (e.g., Consultant, Managed Service Provider)
  • Support Professionals who work for a Cloud Service Provider or a FinOps tooling vendor (e.g., Technical Account Manager, Customer Success Services)
  • Sales and Marketing Professionals who work for a FinOps tooling vendor (e.g., Product Marketing Manager, Account Executive, Solution Architect)
What You Receive With This Course

  • 12 months of access to online course materials
  • A certificate* of completion upon passing a quiz

*Please note this is not the same as becoming “certified” in FinOps. To become certified, you will need to complete the course and/or pass the exam for any one of the following: FinOps Certified Practitioner, FinOps Certified Engineer, FinOps Certified Professional, or FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst.
